Analysis procedures and instrumentation
The accredited Testing Procedures include both screening and confirmation procedures for the detection of doping relevant substances. At first all samples are examined for several hundred compounds (prohibited substances and metabolites as well) by means of screening procedures. If there is no clearly negative result, refined methods are employed to check whether the initially suspicious signal(s) might be due to a prohibited substance. In this case new aliquots of the sample are subjected as confirmation to a second analysis aimed to the unequivocal identification of the substance detected.
The examination of the specimens is carried out predominantly by means of instrumental analysis, only with this provisions the required limits of detection can be achieved.
